I am an urban anthropologist interested in youth, violence, organized crime, activism, and informal housing in Latin America.
I hold a PhD from the University of Oxford, and I am currently a Research Fellow at the Centre on Conflict, Development and Peacebuilding of the Geneva Graduate Institute.
My forthcoming book (NYU Press, 2026) consists in an ethnographic exploration of adolescents’ engagement at the bottom of Colombia’s drug economy. I am about to start a new comparative project on patterns of youth homicide across five Latin American cities.
My research has been supported by the UK Economic and Social Research Council, the Swiss National Science Foundation, the Swiss Network for International Studies, the Independent Social Research Foundation, and the Wenner-Gren Foundation.
Before joining the Graduate Institute, I worked for several years in the humanitarian sector. I am also the author of ethnographic photo series and participatory films co-produced with young people.
