Somos

A PARTICIPATORY DOCUMENTARY ON YOUTH AND PEACE IN COLOMBIA

In the small town of San Carlos (Antioquia, Colombia), national icon of peace and reconciliation, journalists have always asked for the opinion of adults. But what do the younger generations have to say? Realised by 24 adolescents under my coordination, this documentary sheds light on the issues of domestic violence, drug addiction, school conflict, and social discrimination these young people face in their daily lives. While the politicians discussed the peace agreement with the FARC-EP, these young people learned to use cameras, ask questions and voice their views. They deserve to be listened to.

Breaking the Mafia Code

AN INVESTIGATIVE DOCUMENTARY ON ANTI-MAFIA JOURNALISM IN SICILY

Walking the charming streets of Partinico (Sicily, Italy), it is easy to forget about the daily abuses that affect its inhabitants. But Pino Maniaci, a driven journalist eager to make a change, will not let their stories go untold. Based on ground-breaking interviews with local inhabitants and unique archival footage from Maniaci's own TV-programme, this documentary tells the story of a courageous man who dares to stand up against the mafia. Speaking out about its abuses in his daily TV news programme, Maniaci shows the power of media to fight against violence and oppression. This documentary was realised together with Hans van Dijk and Rob Niemantsverdriet
